MS in Developmental Psychology offered at Bay Path College

The Circle of Life Starts With You.

You have a passion for helping other people. Now, you want the skills and knowledge, but, more importantly the understanding to be a positive force in people’s lives. Listening with empathy. Reading your environment with emotional intelligence. Connecting with someone sitting across from you. Learning to be in the moment.

The MS in Developmental Psychology is as much about building yourself as a professional, as it is about learning about the cycle of life.

First, it starts with you. Whether it’s your position or where you work, you are dealing with the human condition. Yes, technology will support you and be there in the classroom. But there will a strong focus on you: self-awareness, body language, ethical standards, active listening, and observational skills.

Life stages: infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age.

And you learn the cycle of life. This program is unique because you cover not just in one class but several, the breadth of the human experience. From conception to middle age to death, you’ll learn what makes each phase distinct, shaping you to be a more reflective and directed professional. You’ll develop a framework to assess the human experience: How do people act and re-act? What are the questions to ask? What are the best practices or protocol in a specific situation?

Classes are small, encouraging conversation and dialogue. In a world that’s always changing, it provides a continuity to build on. Again and again, students say: “I used this information the next day.” It’s one of the best endorsements of the program.
