Bay Path College Physician Assistant (PA) Program Celebrates PA Week with White Coat Ceremony on October 10, 2013.
Julie Purcell, MMS, PA-C , delivered keynote address at the 2015 White Coat Ceremony.
Recognized every year from October sixth through twelfth, Physician Assistant (PA) Week recognizes the increasingly important impact that PAs have made in community healthcare, and celebrates the impressive growth of the profession.
Held during this week, Bay Path College’s White Coat Ceremony was a rite of passage for the 24 members of the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the traditional white coat, signifying the transition from the classroom to the clinical setting.
Joining Jennifer Hixon, DHSc, PA-C, were members of the faculty and the PA Class of 2014, whose president, Thomas Kwapien, PA-S, gave the student presentation. Julie Purcell, MMS, PA-C, from Mount Auburn Hospital (Cambridge, MA), Emergency Department, and president-elect for the Massachusetts Association of Physician Assistants, delivered the keynote address before a packed auditorium of family and friends and offered words of advice to the next generation of healthcare advocates: “Be kind…to your classmates…to your patients… and to practice acts of kindness.”
This is the second class from the program, and they will be graduating in May of 2015.
